How Voxit works
Voxit is a digital participation tool that helps policy departments gain simple, clear insight into the different opinions surrounding a topic.
Which questions are suitable?
The process starts with determining a question or theme, along with accompanying statements that reflect different angles or possible directions.
Preparing a conversation
Once the statements have been determined, the Voxit conversation can be set up in the admin environment within a few minutes — and the conversation can go live immediately.
Moderation
It's important to decide whether statements submitted by participants appear immediately, or whether a moderation step comes first.
Distribution
The conversation can easily be distributed to the intended audience via a URL, QR code, or embed code. Participants can digitally share their opinion on the statements by clicking 'agree,' 'disagree,' or 'neutral.' Once enough votes have been cast, the results become visible to participants in real time.
Participants add statements
What makes Voxit unique is that participants can also add their own statements. These new statements are shared with the other participants, who can then give their opinion on them as well. This creates a dynamic conversation in which new ideas and perspectives build on one another.
Reporting the opinion landscape
The platform analyzes all votes using an advanced algorithm that maps not just where people disagree, but where unexpected agreement emerges across otherwise opposed groups. Rather than flattening the conversation into a single majority view, it surfaces the different opinion groups that have formed, and highlights the specific statements that bridge them — the "uncommon ground" that wouldn't be visible through a simple vote count. The results are analyzed in real time, so participants can watch not only where the conversation stands, but how it evolves as new statements and perspectives are added.
Returning participants
When distributing a Voxit consultation, participants should be encouraged to come back multiple times to review new statements. For example, by embedding the consultation on a webpage participants visit regularly (think of news articles in an online newspaper), or by notifying participants of new statements in other ways.
Standalone or alongside other participation methods
Thanks to the nuanced insight it provides into opinion groups within a topic, Voxit offers a solid foundation for a participation process. The tool can be used on its own or alongside other participation methods, such as stakeholder consultation, neighborhood panels, door-to-door surveys, and public input sessions. Whether it concerns a policy issue, a change process, or a public debate — Voxit facilitates an open, constructive dialogue in which every voice is heard.
